I’ll refresh tired bodies; I’ll restore tired souls. (Jeremiah 31:25 MSG)
Today was a day of rest in sunny Marietta, GA. The weather was good to us — down to 81 degrees. After working out and having a lite breakfast, we spent the morning roaming around Marietta Square.
Next we had lunch at the fabulous Shilling Cafe, and admired their stained glass windows. We found later that Shillings was a hardware store in the 1800s.
Next, we toured the legendary Gone With the Wind museum, which is full of memorabilia.
We found a mall. Now many people might not find it restful to go to a mall — but we know the secret. David got a haircut, and I got a pedi. Now that was restful!
After some miscellaneous shopping, we started looking for the Three Dollar Cafe.. Our FL neighbors said this was a must. The wings were fabulous, but no they were not $3 …. Maybe in the last millennium !! They were worth it , as well as the homemade kettle chips with warm blue cheese dip drizzled all over! I guess this means another trip to the gym!
Two of our three kids called today …. They no longer need advice, as they were trained to make their own choices; but sometimes Mom’s voice can be an encouragement when life throws curve balls. So honored to have them call, whether I am working or resting. Another life lesson — family is always first!
We ‘ll turn in early tonight so we can get back on the trail tomorrow. Next stop — Helen, GA.
